I guess its spring time

We mowed the yard for the first time this season..

Yes, it did seem early to me also...  but it had to be done.

It does look nice though.

Of course at the same time we also un covered the pool

and as is tradition at our house, when we un cover the pool, M goes in, and not by his choice.

Here is the first time being throw in
and he got out

and the second time thrown in
and he got out

and at that point just gave up and started getting in on his own

of course while he was goofing off, we had to get the cover laid out to dry, and get all the leaves off it, so we could get it folded up and put away to use yet another year

M's Best Buddy!

M's oldest friend in the world is B and I mean that literally.  They have been buddies since meeting at the young age of 10 months at Montessori School.  Well, we've all moved on to other schools but B is a constant and we get together with B and his family as often as we can.  One common interest the boys have is, of course, baseball.  B plays for The Futures and, as you saw from an earlier post, we support the Futures and go to games when schedules allow.  After the Championship Game the other night this picture was snapped by T and it's a great picture of M, B and the other T (B's dad).  Just one note - did we mention that B is actually 7 days older than M???  B's catching up and they'll both be tall like their daddies.

M is so proud

Even though we were off this last weekend, didnt mean we didnt practice.

At practice, they were in the cages, hitting with their wooden bats...

While waiting their turn at the cage, they were watching the basketball game that was below...

M swung at one, hit it on the end of the bat, and as he brought the bat back, the end of it came off and went flying to the back of the cage.  M looked down to see just the end of the bat in his hands..

At first M was shocked to see he had broken his bat...

Once he got over that, his first words were..  "can I put it in my room?"

our first words were  "Coach, we're going to need another one of those..."

He is so proud!

His first broken bat
First person on the team to break a bat.
I have a feeling, this is going to get expensive...

Muzzy

The other day I was running an errand, when I see a dog sitting on the side of the road.  I drove by and I was worried, because she looked scared.

I turned around and went back to her, tried to get her in the truck, she wouldnt come.  So I got out and talked to her, she was definitely lost and scared.  After that I got her in the truck.

She had a tag, with a number.  I called it, told the lady,  "I have your dog"  Her answer, "who's dog?"

They had not realized she had gotten out.

We met and I returned the dog to her, she was very thankful, and so was Muzzy  (the dog)

That night I got a text from the woman, telling me how happy her children were that I rescued muzzy and brought her back to them.

so from this I have a piece of advice for you.

Stop for a second, we all have crazy, busy, hectic lives.  Stop for a second and do something nice for someone or something.  Something you dont expect to be thanked for, something you wont get anything out of at all.

Short story, Pay it forward, its good for your soul

Congratulations FUTURES!

The Tigers were off this past weekend, but the Futures weren't.  B and the team played some great baseball. They seeded #1 in the tourney and ended up beating the #2 seed in the final game and winning it all!

Thats B pitching in their first game of the day.

Congrats B and Congrats Futures!

Gift for Grace

One of the great things about riding the Ducks in Branson was we got more quackers, I know G was really upset when she lost the last one we brought her, now she can be happy again

I know K was so happy to know that there are more when this one accidentally gets lost also...

My Birthday

Did I mention my Birthday was just a couple of weeks ago,  I had my 4th annual 39th Birthday  (do the math, I'm not saying it)

so the LOML was ordering a tool from Amazon, through our Amazon prime account, which means the confirmation e-mails and all that come to me, and he also orders my birthday present.

and he has it gift wrapped
no, not the tool he ordered,  my present...

Which of course the order confirmation says what it is, and it says its gift wrapped  (which he paid 3.99 for, BTW) and the gift note says  "I know t wont be a surprise since you will see the confirmation e-mail, but Happy B-day anyway"

so this is what was in the box

which when you open it looks like this

and then....
and then.....

NO AND THEN....

and then....

NO AND THEN....

I know, no one gets the movie reference, just forget it

So any of the pictures you see me grab from now on will now be with my new cool camera, which has an awesome zoom lens on it.

Very happy with my hubby, even though it wasnt a surprise, even though he paid to gift wrapped something that I already knew what it was before it even shipped, even though he ordered it along with a new tool for him....

Spring Break 2012

A couple of years ago we made the mistake of driving down to San Antonio for Spring Break, along with the rest of the state.  The lines and crowds were terrible, traffic was terrible, it was a less than pleasant trip.  So we decided from that point on, if traveling for Spring Break, travel out of state.  This year's destination of choice was Branson, Missouri.

We invited the "folks" to come along and, shock of all shocks, they took us up on the offer.  So we all got out our GPS and made the drive up to Branson.  I found a cabin through Amazing Branson Cabins  Great place, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms with a big deck and HOT TUB!!  Here are a few pics of the cabin:

Day one we got out and surveyed the town.  As you may recall, they were struck by tornadoes in February and there was some question as to how much damage had been sustained, what may or may not be open, etc. so we took a drive.  There was definitely damage and quite a few buildings appeared to be "totaled".  But there were still plenty of people around.  We stopped and ate at Mickey Gilley's Texas Cafe and it was decent.... nothing to get excited about.  Then we took the boys for their first spin on the Branson version of their favorite go karts the Wild Woody.  While we were there they found a Branson favorite, the Lumberjack!!!  A lot of laps were counted at both tracks.

Sunday was also my birthday and raining.  We spent a chunk of the day at the Titanic museum which was very interesting.

It's no where near as big as the one in Pigeon Forge and I'm curious to know what's different but I don't think curious enough to stop at the one in Pigeon Forge although you never know.  After that we visited the Veterans Memorial Museum with an amazing collection of uniforms and weapons from wars from World War 1 through Iraq.  There was also an amazing statute of soldiers, one from every state, very impressive.  After that we enjoyed dinner and a show at the Dixie Stampede!!!!  Gotta love a horse show with food you can eat with your hands!!

Monday we divided and conquered - the folks headed to the quilt shops, the younger set headed to do Laser Tag and go karts... we met back up to hit the outlet mall.  We just love the Under Armour outlet!!  The boys live in that stuff.

Tuesday we again divided and conquered as the younger set took a drive up to Springfield to visit Grizzly World Headquarters and the Granddaddy of all Bass Pro Shops.  Both were absolutely amazing.

Tuesday afternoon we rode the Ducks around Branson and out onto Table Rock Lake.  Our first duck tour was in San Francisco and M is hooked!  As soon as he saw the ducks we knew we would be back on for a tour.

We saw a lot of Branson on that tour including the duck's own personal collection of military vehicles.  They had some very neat stuff up on top of a "mountain".  Also some GREAT views of the lake!

Wednesday was a piddle day....  a little of this, a little of that, a little of nothing.  We drove over to the state park and did a survey for Nana.  Visited the Branson visitor's center and took a look at the dam.

We visited the Toy Museum.  We had dinner at the place with the largest Chicken you've ever seen standing out front.  No kidding.... here's a picture....

Thursday we headed back to Big D as M had baseball practice to get ready for the tournament scheduled this past weekend.  (more to that in another post)

Now those of you who know anything about Branson will realize a couple of glaring things we didn't do.... things you ALWAYS do when you're in Branson.  Like Silver Dollar City or Shepherd of the Hills.... well, surprise, they don't open until April.  So, maybe that will be for another trip.  They keep the sidewalks in Branson rolled up until April, don't say I didn't warn ya!

I hope everyone at the very least relaxed and enjoyed the time off for Spring Break and maybe went someplace you've never been before!!

I'm off to plan our next adventure (as soon as baseball season is over)!!!!!
