Second Grade!!

Hard to believe but my little guy is now officially a second grade student. He's still at the Sloan School and loving it, already asking about staying for third grade. His teacher is Amy Page and, as of this morning, they have 10 children in his class - 5 boys, 5 girls. Michael's comments about the first day of second grade included: "we forgot to raise our hands", "I'm GREEEEEEENNNNNN", and "it was kinda okay." We hope everyone had a good 1st day of school and has a great year!

Ice Skating

Well folks, it's official - you'll do anything for your kids. So, last Saturday Michael had a skating class and after weeks of begging I finally agreed to get out there with him for open skate time. Mind you, it's been at least 20 years, maybe close to 30 years since I've been on a pair of ice skates. I will say I did not fall on my rear like I fully expected to. However, so you can all have a laugh at my expense (instead of just at Michael's expense) here are a couple of pics taken by Edd who stayed safely and securely on the solid and not frozen ground. Hope everyone had a great summer!!

California Vacation

Michael and I made another vacation out of Edd's business trip. Edd, as many of you know, is spending an extended amount of time in Burbank covering for the engineers he sent to Beijing for the Olympics. So, Michael and I flew out last week for a vacation. On Wednesday we went to the Space Museum and Natural History Museum. On Thursday we drove up to Oxnard to see the Cowboy's Training Camp and also snuck in a visit to a children's museum. On Friday we spent time at KidSpace in Pasadena. On Saturday we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. On Sunday we visited the LaBrea Tar Pits. Finally, on Monday we stopped by the LA Zoo for a quick visit before jetting back to DFW. It ws a busy trip but lots of fun-filled days, especially for the short people. The blonde girl you see in some of the early photos is not some random stranger we picked up at the museum but actually our friend Teagan. Teagan also joined us at Six Flags and hosted us for a BBQ Sunday evening at their community pool. Good times and good friends, what can go wrong?

Here's a slide show of most of the days:

Here's a special slide show for the Cowboys - How 'Bout them Cowboys!!! We did see all of the "key" players - Romo, T.O., Whitten, Barber, Gurode (gotta give a shout out to our neighbor) - you may see other faces/numbers that you recognize. It was a great experience and Michael had a blast as you can see.

Katherine's Wedding

Well, it's official - the youngest Overton girl has gotten hitched. Chris pointed out I can't say the last Overton girl because she's still looking for Mr. Right - so Mr. Right, give her a call!! There's no turning back now as far as Kathy's concerned. It was a beautiful (and very short) ceremony followed by a BIG PARTY!!! Here are just a few pics - check out Katherine's MySpace page for more pics if you're interested - and much better ones too...

Zachary's 2nd Birthday

Little Mr. Zachary is growing up. Here are some pics from his 2nd birthday - what a fun guy! He's such a sweet boy! and.... no, I'm not prejudiced
