It's tough

You know, its hard to
 - get up in the morning
 - go do your laps in the pool
 - walk the dog
 - hit some balls in the batting cage (AKA Garage)
 - go to velocity....

it just wears you out

47 Games in....

After this weekend, the Tigers have played 47 games this season.

it has flown by quick, on one hand it doesnt seem like its been that long, on the other hand it feels like this baseball season started 2 years ago.  It has been so great to see the boys grow and learn and gel as a team.  We could not be more proud of how far M has gone this year and how far the team as a whole has grown this year.  It has been great to be a parent involved with this Team, the Coaches, and the players.

so now, back to this weekend.

2 ball games Saturday morning for our pool games.  The boys came out to play with their heads up their butt and we went through 3 pitchers in the top of the first inning.  Luckily the 3rd one got us the 2 outs we needed and got us out of the inning.  They came back later in the game and had a respectable score to end the game, but lost.  They came out swinging in the second game won that one without a lot of effort on their part  (if only they had come out working that hard in the first game)

Sunday game 1 they did GREAT! and shut out their opponent.

Game 2, they had a tough start again, and came back in the end, but not enough to win the game.

So 2-2 for the weekend.  Not a bad weekend at all, with only 9 players, and a substitute coach, and it was burning hot outside.

for all of us "Baseball" people

Have a look at this

Woman Sues 11 year old baseball player

This is CRAZY!  A woman got hit by a wild ball thrown from a catcher in the bullpen warming up with the pitcher.  She is suing the boy for 150K PLUS!

Read this,

be reminded how stupid people are

Another Weekend of Baseball

Tigers went 1-1 against 2 good teams in pool play on Saturday.  We only had 9 this weekend because one of ours went to Cooperstown, so it was hard work out in the sun for all the boys and they looked GREAT!

Sunday we were the lower seed in our first game, playing a AAA team that has beaten us before.  We came out swinging and never looked back.

Second game we held our own and were ahead until the very end.  Lost it by a single run.

The boys looked so good and are playing so hard.  We are so very proud of them all!

E said it was a good way to spend fathers day

GO TIGERS!

Big League Dreams

So, as you know, the Tigers played at Big League Dreams over the weekend.  This is a youth baseball park where each field is built to look like a major league field.  So, Saturday we played at Yankee Stadium and Sunday we played all but the championship at Fenway Park.  Very nice facility.  In the outfield of each they, of course, had the replica scoreboard and one of the parents thought it would be nice to get a picture of the boys there.  I really like this pic and I thought I'd share it....

Maybe the future of the American League?  Who knows....

A Bad Day of Baseball, is better than a good day at something else...

And this, was NOT a bad day at baseball!

Here we were, almost 3 hours into the championship game, the 8th inning and...

Wait, let me back up a bit

So this weekend, we were playing at Big League Dreams in Mansfield (yes, it is a long way out there)

We had 2 pool games Saturday morning,  First one at 8am, which means we had to be there by 7am, and it is a hour drive from our house, so we left at 6am...  get the picture?  Well, we lost both of them, we just were not hitting ball.  Did great fielding and kept the score low, but could not put runs on the board

Problem was, there were 4 teams that started their bracket Saturday evening.  so we ended up having to go back down there Saturday evening to stand around and wait for a couple of other games to be over.  Of course those games ran long, and neither was a run away.  We ended up seeding 9th and did not play Saturday evening.  It was still 10pm by the time we got home.  (refer back to leaving the house at 6am that morning for the first game)

Sunday morning our first game was, you guessed it, 8am

do I need to repeat what time we had to leave to get there?

No?

I didnt think so

First game was against the #8 seed, we won that game,  Got to take a break, go get some food and come back to play at noon

on a small note about that game, we scored our best inning ever (that I know of) during that game.  Going into our half of the inning, the score was 4-5, in our favor
at the end of our half, it was
The game ended with that same score.
MAN, did they come out swinging today!

Second game was against the #1 seed, who we played on Saturday and lost to.

We beat them also

Then we were back to back games, so we had about a 10 minute break and were back on the field

Third game (semi finals) was against the #5 seed, who we played on Saturday and lost to

We beat them

another 10 minute break, and into the championship we go, playing the #3 seed

Time expires, and we finish the 6th inning tied up at 8
We finish the 7th inning tied up at 12
in the bottom of the 8th, we lost the game 14-13
Game lasted 2 hours and 55 minutes and was over at 7:05PM  (do I need to remind you we were AT the ballpark at 7am that morning for our first game, and left the house at 6am)

The boys played so well, they played harder and harder each and every game, got better, more determined.  M came into save situations in 4 out of the 6 game and saved every one of them.

The boys were so tired, so worn out, and it was HOT.  They were still digging deep and bringing it.

We are all so proud of them!

More torture

Obviously, as parents, one of the things we are supposed to do to our children, is to torture them as much as possible
:)

One of the things M has to do every day during the summer, is laps in the pool

of course, I am not sure my definition of "laps" and his definition of "laps" are the same thing

and I am not sure what the dog has to do with him doing laps.
