Visit to Cowboy's Stadium

Brandon's football team had a scrimmage at Cowboy's stadium.  Well, we couldn't resist the opportunity to go and tagged along.  Michael really loved it especially being down on the field and going through the locker rooms.

Riders game with Z

As one of our last Rider's games of the season we invited Z-man along to share in the fun.  Both boys had a great time, but especially Z.

The Bell and other Heirlooms Arrive

Edd's parents decided to relocate to Southlake and downsize. As a result, we have inherited a fair amount of furniture. Not the least of which is the family bell. Not a hand bell, a church bell as in from a steeple. So, the bell arrived with much fanfare and two very large and strong movers. Now it's our job to build it a more permanent home. We'll be sending up flares when it's time to relocate it to it's new home from it's current position - be on the look out!

Highland Village Balloon Festival

Let me say, it is too hot in Texas to stand outside and watch hot air balloons fill up with air. Just sayin. But, there we were, sweating and watching and it was pretty to see, but would have been even better in November....

New Fall Baseball Team

For those of you who haven't heard Michael has a new baseball team for the Fall. He's playing for the Coppell Cowboys. This weekend they had a scrimmage against the other Coppell Cowboys team and held their own pretty well. Michael even pitched! This new season starts a whole new game with kid pitch, lead-offs, steals.... etc. But, Michael's 1st comment after the scrimmage was - "9U Baseball is AWESOME!!!!!" See you at the Ballpark - Go Cowboys!

Chicago

We needed a vacation, Michael decided he wanted to go to Chicago (go figure). Edd had some work to do up there and we tagged along. We tried to see the major sights:

Navy Pier

Field Museum

Shedd Aquarium

Museum of Science and Technology...

we missed the Adler Planetarium and never made it up either of the towers. We did take an excellent city tour that was an open double decker bus which was fun.

We also took in a White Sox game.

We drove out to the Illinois Railway Museum

One big shout out against the Lego Discovery Center.... don't waste your money. Michael had a good time but the adults still had to pay $20 each to get in and couldn't do anything but watch. There are two "rides" akin to those you find in the supermarket roaming fairs. The one cool thing was the miniature Chicago but not worth the admission fee. So a big waste of money, save it, buy some lego sets at Toys-R-Us.

Overall we had a good time and it was a nice break.
