Painting Project

My painting project. Well, for those of you who know, I've been in the process of repainting our "study". I decided a long time ago on red. It took months, which Edd will verify, for me to pick the right red. And, about 6 or 8 weeks ago I started painting. I know you'll think I'm exaggerating but I'm not. Turns out in addition to the tinted primer I ended up with 5 or 6 coats of paint to get the color to be consistent across the wall. It has been a slow and pain-staking process. But, I'm proud to say, I put the final coat of red on the wall in the study today. Here is a picture of the red where it looks best, in contrast to our bookshelves.

I'd like to say I'm done with red but the total idea was to also do the walls in the adjoining dining room at least below the chair rail. It may take me a year to get all of that done. Stay tuned. For now, the house is a wreck with furniture and stuff everywhere but at least the ladder is out of the study and the floor is not covered in painting tarps (thanks Edd).

Spring Fever Week

Every Spring Michael's school has what they call "Spring Fever Week". Each day of that week the kids get to dress in a theme and the best boy and girl are chosen from each class and then one for the school. This past week was Spring Fever Week. On Monday the theme was 50's, on Tuesday Career Day, on Wednesday Hippy Day, on Thursday Backwards Day and on Friday was Sloan School Spirit Day. Michael really got into it this year which was fun.

On Monday he wore the typical white t-shirt and rolled up jeans. We rolled a pack of cigs (tic tacs) in one sleeve and I put a tattoo on his other arm. He thought he was Joe Cool.

On Tuesday he chose his career as being a football player. However, it should be noted that before we even left the house he was having second thoughts about ever wanting to play football. He was very uncomfortable. Here's a couple of pics of him dressed in his football gear.

On Hippy Day he wore a "tie-died" t-shirt, beads, we "frizzed" his hair (very hard to do with a mostly-buzz cut) and painted his face with peace and love. Here are a couple of pics of that outfit.

For backwards day Michael wore his underwear backwards, his pants inside out and backwards, his shirt backwards, his sock inside out, and a pair of socks on his hands. He also put his backpack on his front and tried to walk backwards but I'm sure that didn't last long.

Hope everyone had a great week!!!

Easter - Late as Usual

As typical, I'm behind on my postings. But, here I am trying to do a little catch up. At least I'm only about a week late.

Here are a couple of pics of Michael dying his Easter Eggs. He went with a Star Wars kit which gave him lots of stickers and a few wrappers. Unfortunately, we only got one wing of the tye-fighter (?SP?) and so he and daddy decided it was a crashed tye-fighter.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!!
